Christmas in Nashville

For Christmas we headed to Nashville this year. It's a long drive, but we hadn't been there in a couple of years. Mema and Grandad were ready to show off the re-decorating they had done in their house and take us to see some fun things in the area. My Uncle, Aunt, and young cousin came from Houston and my Grandparents came all the way from Austin. So we all got to visit together. Of course it isn't Christmas if someone isn't sick. This year Dad and I had bad colds and Will had a stomach virus - but we still managed to have a good time.

One of the first nights in Nashville, Mema and the boys decorated cookies and cake house.

Another day we all went to Opryland to see "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" in ice. Yes in ice, not on ice. We donned big blue coats over our own coats and entered a large building that was a giant freezer. We worked our way through a maze of creatures depicting the Dr. Seuss story and all the scenes were carved from ice. The building was about 8 degrees, so at the end our toes were screaming! There was even an ice slide that everyone could go down. The images were so colorful, the ice was dyed and appeared to be poured into forms. It was really neat and we kept having to remind ourselves it was all ice. The tour ended with an ice nativity. After the ice visit we went to the Aquarium restaurant in Opry Mills Malls. It is a restaurant with a giant aquarium in the middle - the boys always enjoy the restaurant.
