Holiday 2006

Yes, I am very late getting this posted. Things have been busy - as they always are. I just have to make time to keep things updated more often. Besides the usual work, school, and Taekwondo classes - Nick is participating in the Shamrock Marathon in March. As a child participant he runs all but the last mile on his own. On the day of the marathon he runs the last mile with other kids participating. He's a good runner and runs about a 10 minute mile without stopping. Maybe Cross Country will be something he'll get into in the future? So we have spent time on the weekends getting some running done. We've also had some nice weather to enjoy earlier this month, including a few days where it was in the mid 70's, just ideal weather for being outdoors. Now, it's cold and windy once again. I guess winter is back! This weekend we spent time with my parents. They came to town for Grandparent's Day at Nick's school. It was a nice visit. We hadn't seen them since July - so it had been awile. Yesterday it was beautiful so we went to the Aquarium and spent some time walking in the marsh there. Now for the Holiday photos. Dennis came home for the holidays and was able to spend about 2 weeks home. It was great! We decided to stick close to home this year. Just before Christmas Day we traveled to see Dennis' parents, because due to illness, his father could not travel. We are concerned about him as he was diagnosed with liver cancer and is still struggling to get stable and comfortable. The cancer is a type that is very slow growing, one people can live with for years once it is stablized. We are hopeful that will be soon. We returned after a brief visit to enjoy a family holiday, just the four of us. It's something we have never done in our own home. It was enjoyable. Of course the boys got way too much as usual. The house was full of dinosaurs, robots, Transformers and the like. It looked like Toys R Us exploded in our house! We managed to make time to make some cookies and Dennis even got the half bath repainted. It was a good break for us all!
